Dr. Brooke Davis was born on October 25, 1977, in Montgomery, Alabama, to Jeanette and Robert Phillips. She spent her childhood growing up in Birmingham, Alabama.
From her earliest days as a toddler, Brooke was gifted with an encompassing love for all living creatures. She knew from those very first experiences that she wanted to be a veterinarian, as she rescued and cared for each of those who were lucky enough to cross her path.
Brooke graduated from the University of North Florida in Jacksonville in 2001, with a degree in Biology. She returned to Birmingham to work in pharmaceutical research until she entered Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine; she graduated Summa Cum Laude with her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine in 2009.
She was soon employed at Briarcliff Animal Hospital until 2014, when she joined the San Jose Beauclerc/Deerwood hospitals, where she practiced until her death.
Brooke was serving as the President of the Jacksonville Veterinary Medical Society at the time of her passing. She was an active member of the American Association of Feline Practitioners, the Florida Veterinary Medical Association, and the American Veterinary Medical Association. Brooke was also an avid supporter of rescue and shelter endeavors, and was especially active with G.R.E.A.T. Rescue of NE Florida. A great deal of her “free” time was spent caring for disabled, orphaned, injured, or behaviorally challenged animals. She tirelessly promoted responsible pet stewardship, preventive care, and she was outstanding in her medical skills with special gifts in cardiology, behavior, pediatrics, dentistry, and preventive care.
Brooke was truly and without doubt a beautiful person inside and out; she was also beloved by all who had the honour of knowing her. Her extraordinary passion for all living things will be remembered and appreciated by her patients, her clients, her countless devoted friends and colleagues, her own menagerie, her most cherished mother, Jeanette, and her brother, Todd. There is no question that she was welcomed with open paws and hooves as she crossed The Rainbow Bridge.
